Wakcy Week Wednesday - International Magic Week - 10/25-31

Prestidigitation, illusion, sleight of hand...Well-known magicians include David Copperfield, David Blaine, Doug Henning, Penn & Teller, and Erik Weisz. Erik Weisz is better known to the world as Harry Houdini, and he certainly deserved his title “Great Escape Artist”. He could escape from handcuffs while in a milk can filled with water, from the Chinese Water Torture Cell, from a straightjacket while suspended from a tall building, from leg irons and handcuffs while in a nailed crate underwater, and from being buried alive in a sealed casket. There is little doubt why International Magic Week culminates on the anniversary of Houdini's death – October 31. International Magic Week celebrates the world of magic and the magicians who bring magical joy to people of all ages. So this week, why don't you take in a magic show or learn a magic trick and amaze your friends? You'd be amazed how much fun magic is!

A couple of good magic books for this week are
Magic Box by Katie Cleminson
Magic Up Your Sleeve by Helaine Becker

Can you duplicate the magician's tricks?

You have to make a magic ball this week.
What you need:

1 cup cornstarch ½ – ¾ cup of water

What to do:
Pour cornstarch into a bowl, slowly stir in water to make a thick liquid. Divide into equal parts into bowls or baggies for each child. You will find that when you stop playing with the solid, it turns to liquid!
